When you think of Reggaeton duo Chencho and Maldy of Plan B, immediately sexiness comes to mind, right? Well they wouldn’t want it any other way. The group, who calls their style of Reggaeton original with sexual undertones, isn’t apologizing. The duo has been together for more then a decade and has been very successful throughout their musical career together. Their uber hit “Frikitonia” was heard everywhere from the clubs to the streets, which also happened to be remixed by none other then Chosen Few’s Boy Wonder which featured Trina and Trick Daddy and went on to become a club and radio phenomenon.
With such success Plan B’s, Chencho and Maldy have opened up their own record labels that are aptly named after themselves. And while they focus on their careers, they also help and discover new talent. Chencho actually put Boy Wonder on to Fuego. Chencho who is also an acclaimed producer presented an idea to Boy Wonder on doing an album of new raw talent and since Boy liked the idea, they joined forces and the album El Draft 2005 was born. The disc when on to reach Gold status and was nominated for a Billboard Award in 2006 which also launched the careers of RKM and Ken-y. And since Chencho first discovered Fuego at a concert he was doing, he thought it would be a good idea to feature Fuego on the album, Chencho thought he would be perfect for the Chosen Few rooster. Boy agreed and the rest is history.
And making history is something Plan B is hoping to achieve. They continue to work with many of their Reggaeton contemporaries and are promising to further the genre of Reggaeton with their highly anticipated album “House of Pleasure” hitting streets soon.
We got a chance to catch up with the OG freaks to discuss their newest hatched plan.
CFM: Your new single “Solos” featuring Tony Dize is crazy. We are defiantly feeling it. The sound is so fresh. † PB: The song came out about a few weeks ago and it's really becoming a huge hit. That melody was created with the producer H Rocka and it's his sound. We are staying away from just us doing our own production. So working together with H Rocka was a great experience that turned out to be in our favor because of the songs success. It has a rhythm that is catchy and is going to stay in your head. The style is reggae type; it has a lot of flow and works well with the chorus. That’s important in any song an artist does. † CFM: So what’s up with a video for the new single?
PB: Actually we will shoot the video soon. We don’t have an exact location right now but we promise it will be sexy.
CFM: It's similar to the song that you have with Baby Rasta and Gringo. Is that a new style that you’re working with? † PB: Yeah we are making a new style of music and we know it’s going to ring in everyone's head. We constantly want to revolution the genre and make it grow so our music is constantly changing; we aren’t sticking to the same drum patterns.
† CFM: Well its definitely ringing bells in our head. But what are you Plans for the future.
PB: We are working on a lot of new collaborations with a lot of artists. We believe that working with other Reggaeton artist and Hip-Hop artist’s is important to keeping the genre alive. We're going to keep promoting Reggaeton so the music will never stop and keep moving forward. That’s our goal to have Reggaeton continue to grow and prosper.
CFM: So we heard that you guy’s look in the dictionary to try to find new words to express the sexy. Is that true?
PB: Yes, that’s true. We have a lot of sexual content in our songs and we know we have a diverse fan base of all ages. And we don’t want to offend people. So we try to look up words that mean sex but in a subtle way. The teenagers want to perrear and we want to give them the music that they can dance to but still play the music around there little sister or brother. †
CFM: We completely agree with you because at the end of the day, it's all about the fans, right? † PB: Of course! The fans are the ones who have us here. Without them here, we wouldn't be on the phone with you having this interview. We make our music for the fans. The younger ones that don’t understand †
CFM: Is there anything else that you want to say to your fans that you haven't mentioned before?
PB: The only thing left to say is that our fans will get the best Plan B we have to offer. And we came into the game to keep Reggaeton alive. And we will maintain that forever. Our new album “House of Pleasure” will live up to its name.
