| Joe Budden |
No matter whom you ask, it seems everyone has a comment about Joe Budden. Some comments floating around the streets include, “Whose he beefing with now?” or “What’s up with Slaughterhouse?” or “Have you seen his chick’s backside, you can sit on that thing.†“But the only thing Joe Budden really cares about is that he has people talking about him in the first place. Budden has been very busy this year, with the release in February of his critically acclaimed and highly anticipated sophomore debut, “Padded Room” a project Budden put out independently through Amalgam Digital after his previous project was shelved by his former label Def Jam for nearly four years. With numerous mixtapes circulating, Budden has also been busy working with the rap group he helped form which goes by the moniker “Slaughterhouse” with elite members including, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5’9 and Crooked I. “I can’t really say who, where or when this collaboration for a group came from. We all did a song together called “Slaughterhouse” and we all enjoyed working together. We all are fans of Hip-Hop first and foremost and fans of each other. We are definitely bringing something missing in Hip-Hop right now and we are all excited about doing an album together as a unit, we are the future, mark my words.” Although that album isn’t scheduled for release anytime soon Budden says mixtape projects are constantly being produced. When Budden isn’t in the studio or touring throughout the country and abroad, you can catch him and his extremely entertaining life on the Internet, either on youtube.com or Joe Budden TV. From funny moments with friends, to his girl Tahiry getting ready for work, Joe is always the entertainer, while serving double duty as the cameraman. “I really started posting videos because my music is so personal that I wanted my fans to get to know me not just Joe Budden the MC, artist, etc., but Joe Budden the person. I really feel the reason it has done so well is because it’s uncut and real.” Budden also tells us he is a romantic and although his music doesn’t always reflect that he credits his reality videos for showing every side of himself to his fans. ![]() However sometimes reality TV can get a little too real when recently Raekwon and his people barged in on Joe in his dressing room after his performance on the Rock the Bell’s Tour and a confrontation occurred which was reported that Budden was sucker punched in his eye and shoulder by Raekwon’s entourage. Shortly after that incident Budden took to the internet with a bag of ice on his eye stating his side of what went down “Honestly it was a bitch move on Raekwon and his people and when I see him I am going to tell him that.” Controversy seems to follow Budden around like the plague but Budden says he isn’t fazed. The last MC in Budden’s beef radar was Saigon and although Budden now says that beef is dead, he isn’t ruling out future beefs. “People think all I do is beef, but like I said before I am a fan of Hip-Hop music and beef on wax is what Hip-Hop is all about. When you are challenged you work harder and that’s exactly what I have been doing.” ![]() Budden adamantly denies that he uses these beef’s as a way to stay relevant and as a marketing tool, and reiterates that it’s really only about competition. Competition in any form Budden revels is intriguing to him. Stating on his down time Budden says he enjoys watching his favorite baseball team the NY Yankees and UFC matches while hanging with his girlfriend that often appears on his videos. “Tahiry’s like my right hand man as you can see on the videos she is mad cool. She is even getting her own fan base. When she is out at my shows and on the street people come up to her, once someone freaked out and couldn’t believe it was her. It’s been cool sharing my success with my girl.” Budden also isn’t ruling out doing an actual reality show on TV. “Whatever happens, happens I am just happy that our videos are so well received and they have been so successful. If the right offer came about we would definitely be interested.” And success is something Budden says is what keeps him going. The knowledge that he has a platform to use his talent that he believes was given from the man above, isn’t something he says he takes for granted. “I will continue to use my voice to express my views whether good, bad or indifferent.” True, indeed.
